For the fifth year in a row I have co-organized Star Wars Day at the Tampa Bay Times Forum with The 501st Legion, a fun event in which we mingle with guests all over the Forum, and put in an appearance on the field during the game. This year, like last year, we had R2-D2, C3-P0, Darth vader, Chewbacca, and a whole bunch of other cool characters.
The pictures in this post were taken by one of our handlers, Derek Stewart, with my camera, and another 501st Legion member, Greg Raczynski.
My favorite part from the Forum troop: an adorable blonde girl, about 6 or 7, with her mom, was so excited to see us she could hardly stand it. She didn’t know where to look first.
We were milling around in the picture taking area, posing with guests; R2-D2 was still coming up in the elevator to join us. I introduced myself and asked if she was a Star Wars fan. She told me her name was Chloe, and she wanted her mom to take pics of everybody.
I told her R2-D2 was on his way and she looked even more excited. When R2 emerged, I said, “Chloe, come here, I want you to meet a friend of mine. Chloe, this is R2. R2, this is Chloe.” R2 made his beeps, and we totally made Chloe’s night. Man, that is just beyond price.
